Two true masters come together here: Axel Zwingenberger, the world's leading boogie woogie pianist, and Dave Green, one of England's most sought-after jazz bassists for decades. Since their time together in the cult band “The ABC & D of Boogie Woogie” with co-pianist Ben Waters and Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, they have been perfectly attuned to each other, indulging in the world of blues and boogie woogie improvisation with their spontaneity, passion and expressiveness in a frenzy of rolling quaver beats.
Both have played with countless legends of their genres: a treasure from which their wealth of ideas brings forth the new creations that define the musical program of this CD. Unbridled joy of playing, coupled with an unfailingly bluesy and swinging groove, allow Axel and Dave to throw the musical balls to each other.
The hallowed halls of Vienna's Jazzland, home to jazz and blues “with a feeling” for over five decades, provide additional inspiration for intensive musical exchange. “Boogie With A Bass” is a joyful formula not only for die-hard blues and boogie woogie lovers, but also captivates audiences of all generations - inimitably captured ‘live’ and authentically relived on this album.
Enjoyment is guaranteed!
